Ka rere te noke? Do worms fly?
I tono atu ahau ki a Whaea Bron ki te whakaako mai te mahi pakiwaituhi.
I te wiki nei ka kōrerorero ngā tēina mo te noke me te kōpere.
Ka taea te noke te rere? He aha i kore ai? Ka whakaaro rātou ehara i te wāhi hunahuna.
I asked Whaea Bron to teach me how to do an animation.
This week the tēina have been discussing worms and rainbows.
Can worms fly? Why not? They thought there wouldn't be places to hide.

Waiata Tau - a number song
He tino pārekareka ki ā tātou nei tamariki ki te ako waiata ki te taha o
Whaea Miri i te ahiahi nei.
Whaea Miri i te ahiahi nei.
Our tamariki had heaps of fun learning this waiata with Whaea Miri
this afternoon.
this afternoon.
Kotahi Rākau
Kotahi rākau mokemoke e,
E rua ngā waewae mō te hīkoi e,
E toru ngā tara mo te KFC,
E whā ngā hau e pupuhi ana,
E rima ngā whetū kemokemo mai,
E ono ngā hēki i te kohanga,
E whitu ngā tae o te kopere,
E waru ngā ringa o te wheke,
E iwa ngā waiata pārekareka e,
Tekau ngā hoa he pai ki ahau.
One lonely tree, two feet for walking, three dollars for KFC,
four winds blowing, five stars twinkling, six eggs in the nest,
seven colours of the rainbow, eight arms of the octopus,
9 fun songs, ten friends that I like.

Kia ora e te whānau. I intended to have this online yesterday but events conspired against me.
Inaianei, kua puta mai te mahi! And it was worth waiting for, e ai ki toku whakaaro - e pārekareka ana ngā taputapu - there are some very fun activities in here.
Have fun, and as always, let us know how you go through comments below, or email.

Kanikani Mai
Kua mahi mātou i tētahi kanikani! Me kanikani koutou ki ō mātou taha! We made up a dance... dance along with us.
We listened to the counting song Tahi Rua Toru Whā by Anika Moa. Then we came up with mahi ā-ringa (actions) and put them to the song. It began easily, but as the song got faster, we realised we'd set ourselves a BIG challenge.
See if you can copy our mahi ā-ringa, or make up your own mahi ā-ringa and see if you can do them right until the end of the waiata!

He Wero nā Whaea Jude
Whaea Jude challenged us all to create something to share with the people in the Allen Bryant Rest Home. She set us this challenge because the people living there are not even allowed to go for a walk outside, and their families are not allowed to visit them. Pōtiki has written a kind, thoughtful letter which is sure to cheer up anyone who sees it. Kia ora Pōtiki, ka awhi koe i a rātou - you are helping others.
Everyone is invited to create something to send. (We can't actually post it, we have to email it and then they will print it at the rest home). Draw, write, paint or create, then take a photo and email it to tiff@hokitika.school.nz and I will pass it on to Whaea Jude, and also share it below!

Nga mahi mā ngā Tēina: Wenerei me te Tāite
Kia ora koutou! We start today's slide with a celebration of some learning at home. I know several of you are working on these challenges - ka pai to mahi!
On Tāite (Thursday), Hākui and I will not be actively teaching online (we have a Senior Leadership Planning day), so this slideshow is choc-full of activities, to see you through until Paraire (Friday).
Remember you can always look back at previous slides if there was something you particularly enjoyed. Have fun, and escape into that sunshine every chance you get!

Mahi mā ngā Tēina - Mane.
Kia ora koutou! Here we go with another week of online learning.
Pakeke (parents): Here is a slideshow with some mahi for the tēina (Year 1, 2 and 3 tamariki) for today. We will put up a new slide show each day. (Tuakana - older students - are most welcome to join this mahi too).
If you don't have time to look at all these slides, or to do them every day - kāore he raruraru. It's no problem at all. We hope the mahi is so fun that the tamariki will want to spend half an hour each day checking out what's new, but it is not 'marked' or tested in any way! So take a day off whenever you need to. The tamariki will need your support to explore all the parts of the slide shows, and we understand that you might not have time for that every day.
Tamariki mā: Kia ora koutou! Have some fun with these activities. teach your whānau some new kupu! Kātahi ka, kōrero mai koutou - and then leave us a comment below to tell us which activities you tried out. You can even email us with a picture or video if you like!

Reo Ā-waha - Wiki 1, wāhanga 2 (Week 1, Term 2)
Ānei te Reo ā-waha mō te rōpu ō Whaea Tiff - here are some Reo ā-waha (spoken language) activities for the tamariki who learn Reo ā-waha with Whaea Tiff. (But anyone is welcome to join in!). The idea with this is that it's fun, and I'm hoping it will encourage the whole whānau to karawhiua - give it a go.
Please don't feel the need to test your child on this work - we all learn at different speeds. Just have fun!
Pānui - Wiki 1, Wāhanga 2 (Week 1, Term 2)
Kia ora te whānau! Let me know how you get on with this slide show - is it easy to use? Fun for the tamariki? I can easily make changes in the future. One tip - it's better if you make it full screen (click the funny 4-corners square symbol). Looking forward to seeing your responses! Nā, Whaea Tiff.
