We listened to the counting song Tahi Rua Toru Whā by Anika Moa. Then we came up with mahi ā-ringa (actions) and put them to the song. It began easily, but as the song got faster, we realised we'd set ourselves a BIG challenge.
See if you can copy our mahi ā-ringa, or make up your own mahi ā-ringa and see if you can do them right until the end of the waiata!

ReplyDeleteKia ora Waiari... He pai ki a koe te ingoa Ari, te ingoa Waiari rānei? Ha ha, our moves are pretty simple... nāku e whiriwhiri i te pakipaki, nā Nikoya e whiriwhiri i te mahi ā-waewae! It just got hard when we put the two moves together... my hands wanted to go in and out like my feet were doing, instead of clap slapping.

Kia ora Isaiah! Hmmm, perhaps we were shuffling a little...as part of our dance! The beat came from a very simple song called Tahi, Rua, Toru, Whā by Anika Moa. Ānei: https://youtu.be/Vrf8hP5amgI It starts easy but gets faster and faster. Usually we sing it with the tēina in our class.
